Yoga Poses Cure Asthma

More than 70% people in the world have asthma and breathing problems these days. Most of these are due to smoking, construction jobs, polluted environment etc. But, it is in your hands to keep yourself safe from such issues. For that, yoga would definitely be a good option. Take a look at these exercises for asthma.

  • Savasana: Lie down straight and keep your arms extended to your sides. Keep yourself as calm as possible with eyes closed. Start breathing slowly and steadily and while doing sotry to focus on it. Maintain this stance for 5-10 minutes while deep breathing.
  • Sukasana: Cross your legs and sit straight. You can sit on a comfortable cushion if you feel uneasy on the bottom. Move your right hand to place it on your heart and the other one on your stomach. Keep your eyes closed and breathe deeply. Feel the air in your stomach while focusing on the pumping sound coming from your heart. Maintain this for 5 – 10 minutes.
  • Forward bend pose: Stand straight. Now with extended arms, bend your body towards the ground. Keep your arms straight and touch your toes or even further if you can comfortably. Make sure your legs are straight while doing this. Breathe while doing this and maintain it for 10-15 seconds before coming back up.
  • Shoulder opener with wall support: Get in a standing position. Bend your body perpendicular to the floor in front of a wall. Now place both your arms on the wall till your elbows. With back straight and chest out, breathe for 10-12 times while maintaining this pose.
  • Butterfly: Get into a sitting position with both soles of your feet touching with each other. While keep your knees to the sides and imagining them to be butterfly wings, hold your toes and flap your knees gently. While doing this inhale and exhale deeply. The use of hands to grip your toes is just to keep your legs stable while doing this. If you are comfortable without doing so, then also it is fine.
