  1. Honey: Consuming a mixture of honey and lemon juice in a ratio of 1:2 every 2-3 hours helps in soothing the sore throat and killing the Cold causing viruses. Honey has a high amount of nutrients and easy to consume with its sweet taste.
  2. Garlic: It is one of the best remedies for getting rid of symptoms and is readily available in the kitchens. It can either be taken raw or mixed with your food, lemon juice or honey. It clears the nasal congestion and helps to flush out toxins from the body.
  3. Ginger: It is yet another great remedy that has been known for ages to fight the Common Cold with its anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties. Eating raw ginger or drinking ginger tea several times a day provides great relief. Adding lemon juice and honey to tea makes it more effective.
  4. Red Onion: Red onion syrup provides huge relief from congestions and throat soreness. To make the syrup, mix slices of red onion with raw honey until it is saturated. Keep the mixture covered for nearly 13 to 15 hours. It is advisable to consume a spoonful of syrup several times a day.
  5. Spice Tea: Spice tea is the best Ayurvedic remedy to prevent the cold. You can prepare the spice tea by grinding a cup of coriander seeds with 1 tea-spoon of cumin and a quarter teaspoon of fennel seeds. Now, add the whole mixture into boiling water with two spoons of milk and stain it. After staining, sip this congestion three to four times in a day.
  6. Pepper: It is the most common remedy for cough and cold. It has capsaicin, which helps in thinning the mucus and relieving the congestion. Boil a tablespoon of pepper with a glass of water and gargle twice, thrice a day.
  7. Cinnamon: Boil a cinnamon stick with 2 cloves in a glass of boiling water and let it simmer for a while. Now, strain the water and drink the water in a small interval of time.
