Useful postures

Sitting in half-spinal twist posture, improves oxygen supply to the lungs. The wind-relieving posture improves digestion, helps release of gas by massages the abdominal organs. The bridge posture opens up the chest and lungs and improves digestion. The cobra pose expands the chest and improves blood circulation. The butterfly pose stimulates blood circulation and reduces fatigue.  A 15-minute daily session of yoga breathing exercises will reduce the chances of an asthma attack. Asthma patients must avoid rapid breathing exercises and retention of the inhalation for long.

Swimming is good

Another good exercise for asthma patients is swimming. It builds up the muscles used in the act of breathing. Swimming means a lot of warm, moist air for the lungs, which do not trigger asthma symptoms. Exercises like walking, biking, and hiking are good for asthma patients but the exercise should be done with breaks in between. Also the patients should warm up before beginning the regular exercise program.
