  • Macadamia Nuts: These nuts are limited in the amount of protein (just 2 grams in 10-12 nuts) and the highest quantity of fats (21 grams in 10-12 nuts). Plus, they pack around 200 calories per nut. Though they are not that bad, but when eaten in large quantities, they can lead to harmful effects.
  • Pecans: These also pack a lot of fats, but limited protein. The calories in these nuts is also very high. So, they also need to be consumed in controlled proportions.
  • Sugar coated nuts: Any nut that is coated with sugar or other coating is to be avoided. The sugary coating adds up more calories to your body. A few might be sufficient, but when consumed a lot, they will definitely harm your body.

Best Nuts:

  • Almonds: These will offer you a variety of nutrients, most notably – calcium. Almonds are considered to be the best for prevention of diseases. Plus, addition of vitamin E, fibres and antioxidants have helped to prevent lung cancer and also reduce aging effects.
  • Peanuts: Peanuts are known for their folate content which helps in efficient brain development. Folate is usually consumed through non-vegetarian items. So, peanuts can be a great source of folates for the vegan class.
  • Walnuts: If you want to reduce your heart risks, then walnuts are the preferred nuts for you. Comprising of Omega-3 fatty acids, they are helpful for reducing inflammation and oxidation in the blood vessels caused by cholesterol etc. So, consuming them is really helpful for the heart.

While most of them have a limited calories difference, their protein and fibrecomposition is the main factor in determining their benefits. So, the nutrients in foods have been used to differentiate the best from the worst nuts. But, make sure you consume them in small amounts.
