While drinking water is a good thing, its over-consumption can lead to certain problems too. Over-hydration has its own ill-effects but that usually occurs to people who have certain health problems in them. A person usually drinks too much when he/she feels a lot of thirst. Even certain conditions can cause him/her to drink excessive water.

Why it happens?

So, the main reason for excessive water drinking is due to medical conditions such as – kidney issues, liver problems such as Cirrhosis, heart risks and failures and SIADH or syndrome of inappropriate anti-diuretic hormone.

Ill-effects:

  • Over drinking can lead to vomiting and nausea in the drinker. This is an after effect that rejects the excess water in the body. The person might also feel unbalanced due to heavy consumption of water.
  • Inflammation problems such as headache can also be witnessed in such people.
  • Mental state alterations where person frequently gets confused and disoriented.

Further fatal problems can also be inflicted as too much hydration leads to reduction of sodium levels in the blood.

These disadvantages are:

  • Cramps and spasms in the muscles with further weakening of muscles.
  • Black outs
  • Coma
  • With excessive water in your body, you get more blood supply in you. But, when it became more than enough, your heart has to work extra hard to pump it in various parts ofthe body. So, eventually, you feel fatigue.
  • The kidneys have to filter the water in our body. With more water, they have to work more which only makes it harder to get the job done efficiently. With excess water filtering, the residue is also more which affects our kidneys. So it can lead to many causes due to this.
  • So, hot water can have its own ill-effects. You cannot consume thinking of it to be helpful for your body. This is usually more problematic if people are facing such conditions.
