If you have researched enough, then, you must know that Vitamin D and Calcium are essential for bone density increase. Building strong bones requires you to have these two in sufficient amount. So, consuming foods that offer these can help you. However, there are also foods that would only increase your risks of reduced bone density which leads to Osteoporosis etc. These are:

  • Foods with too much protein:While protein offers muscle growth, it reduces your bone density as well. This is because due to protein the body manufactures sulphates that deplete the calcium form the bones – hence, reducing their density. It is more with the protein that you consume through non-vegetarian items rather than the protein from a vegan diet. So, chicken, beef, and other meat items when over consumed lead to reduction of bone density.
  • Caffeinated drinks and sodas:Increased consumption of caffeinated drinks has been researched to cause decrease in bone density. This is usually more applicable to those who consume more than sufficient. Drinks such as coffee, sodas etc. when consumed too much each day lead to this problem. Besides the caffeine, sodas also have phosphorus which is also bad for the bones and might lead to fractures as well as tooth decay.
  • Foods with Vitamin A:Again it has been researched that over consumption of Vitamin A rich foods lead to hip bone fractures in women. The reason was that the retinol Vitamin A didn’t led Vitamin D perform its function of improving bone density. So, such hazards were taking place. Foods such as sweet potatoes and carrots can lead to such issues if consumed in too much quantitie
  • Salt:Sodium present in the salt leads to secretion and excretion of the calcium from the body, which is otherwise needed for bone development. So, too much salt consumption is harmful for the bones.

These foods are usually harmful when they are consumed in large quantities every day. Besides that, non-vegan diet followers are having more risks with such foods which is why they should choose healthy foods for the bones if possible.
