Entice Your Guests With The Soya Chunks Masala Dry

Soya Chunks Masala Dry (4 servings):


Soya Chunks

100 g

Chilli Powder

1.5 Tbsp.

Pepper Powder

1 Tbsp.


1 Tbsp.


1 Tsp.

Coriander Powder

2 Tsp.

Turmeric Powder

1⁄2 Tsp.

Garam masala

1.5 Tsp.

Onion (medium)




Coriander leaves


Curry Leaves sprig


Method of preparation:

  • Let the soya chunks be immersed in a bowl containing hot water for at least 20 minutes. This is to let them absorb and grow up for a better taste.
  • Now the soya chunks will have increased in size. Take them out and squeeze out the water. You can cut the chunks into pieces or can use them as it is.
  • Now use chilli powder, pepper powder, crushed garlic and ginger to marinate the chunks with salt for around 10 minutes.
  • Now heat some oil in a pan and add curry leaves, onions and a little salt in it. Sautee the onions and let them become light brown in colour.
  • Now add garam masala, coriander powder and turmeric powder to it. Sautee it for a few minutes more.
  • Add tomato and sautee until it gets soft.
  • Now add the marinated soya chunks to it. Also add 1 cup of water with salt (as per your taste) and use a lid to cover it. Let it cook for 15 minutes.
  • Now open lid and let the water evaporate.
  • Making it dry requires you to add 2-3 teaspoons of oil to it and cooking it until the chunks get darker in colour.
  • Now take it out in a serving plate and use coriander leaves to garnish it. Enjoy your chunks with Indian bread or rice.

  • To let the onions cook faster you can add a little salt to it which will absorb the water from them.
