Mushroom Masala Kadai (4 servings):


  • 1 cup cleaned mushroom
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • Tomato puree of 3 small tomatoes
  • Cumin seeds-1 tsp
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp coriander powder
  • Garam masala
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • Dried fenugreek leaves, red chillies-1, coriander leaves-2tsp finely chopped
  • Oil-3tsp
  • Salt to taste

Method of preparation:

  • Clean the mushroom and slice it.
  • Heat oil, add jeera and allow it to crackle. Add red chillies, fry for a moment.
  • Add onion, ginger and sauté till the onion becomes brown
  • Add capsicum and sauté till it becomes crunchy
  • Add tomato puree and fry for 3-4 minutes.
  • Add chilli, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and coriander powder, salt. Mix well and fry for few minutes
  • Add a little water and add mushroom. Let it thicken.
  • Simmer for 3 minutes. After the mushroom is cooked, add fenugreek leaves and coriander leaves.

Expert tips:

  • The kadai mushroom masala is close to the paneer kadai masala. It can be served with chapattis.
  • It tastes much more delicious than paneer masala.

Cooking tips:

  • You can close the lid of the pan after adding mushroom. The mushroom cooks better this way.
