Vegetable Dalia recipe (3 servings):
•Dalia/broken wheat: 1 cup
•Onion, finely chopped: 1 medium-sized
•Ginger, chopped: 1 inch
•Green chillies, finely chopped: 1 or 2
•Tomato, finely chopped: 1 medium-sized
•Chopped carrots: ½ cup
•Chopped potatoes: ½ cup
•Green peas/fresh or frozen: ½ cup
•Water: 4 cups
•Cumin: 1 tsp.
•Oil or ghee: 1 tbsp.
•Salt as per taste
Method of preparation:
•Heat ghee or oil in a cooker.
•Crush the cumin seeds in hot oil or ghee.
•Now, add finely chopped onions in the cooker and saute until they turn transparent.
•After that, add green chillies, chopped ginger. Saute for a few seconds.
•Saute the mixture for a minute after adding tomato.
•Add all the remaining vegetables and saute for another 2 minutes.
•Stir the mixture continuously.
•Now rinse the Dalia in water and add these vegetables to it.
•Stir for another 3-4 minutes.
•After that, add 4 cups of water with salt as needed.
•Stir it again and cook under pressure for 11 whistles to make sure that the Dalia is cooked properly.
•If not, then add more water to it and cook in the pressure cooker for 2-3 whistles. You can also cook them without the lid until the Dalia softens.
•Later, garnish the Dalia using coriander leaves.
